Uganda Blood Transfusion Service (UBTS) & Mobile Blood Bank

Summary

Over the past 10 years, Knowledge for Change (K4C) has been running a student placement program for undergraduates from UK universities. These students work in community health facilities and hospitals in Uganda working alongside local staff, gaining experience in various healthcare settings.

Activities

The Uganda Blood Transfusion Service (UBTS) has been one of the hosting institutions, offering students the opportunity to learn essential skills in blood collection and processing. In addition to practical training, some students engage in research projects, using data collected during their placements to write their theses.

One of the research topics explored by students includes Attitudes Towards Blood Donation Among Muslim Communities in Fort Portal Town, Kabarole District.
