Teaching and Social Work
K4C expanded its activities to include social work and education upon forming a new partnership with Canon Apollo Primary School in 2018. Canon Apollo caters for over 350 children aged 4 to 16, roughly 120 of whom have some form of physical and/or mental disability. The activities our teaching and social work volunteers include running teacher training programmes, developing curricula, improving quality of and access to education for the disabled children, supporting the families of the disabled children and improving administration and record systems.
Aside from Canon Apollo School, our social work volunteers have supported several Community Based Organisations focusing on youth and women’s empowerment, HIV positive communities, providing health education for sex workers and providing support for patients suffering from limb loss. Some placements have included elements of research and student supervision.
