Nursing
K4C has hosted over 20 long-term and many more short-term nursing placements since 2012; they have been central to the design and implementation of many of our interventions! The roles of our nursing volunteers have been varied and have covered several areas including paediatrics, neonatal intensive case, maternity, mental health, surgery and casualty (A&E). Activities have included improving patient triage, observation and infection prevention and control systems, promoting respectful care, running immunisation clinics, running training programmes in wound management and supporting sexual, mental health and family planning services. Our nurses have also taught on the newly designed nursing and midwifery degree programmes at Mountains of the Moon University.
Nursing placement locations range from large urban hospitals to small rural health centres and community outreaches. The choice of roles can often be flexible to suit the skills, experience and personal preferences of the volunteer. Some roles may also include research activities. We welcome applications from early career through to senior nursing staff.
