Professional Volunteer Requirements

We welcome Global Health Professional Volunteers from a variety of backgrounds including nursing, midwifery, medicine, allied health professions, social work and others. Professional Volunteers are required to have a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field, along with a minimum of 1 full year of practice experience (post-qualification). We expect all volunteers to be highly motivated and to have excellent teamwork and communication skills. Volunteers must also have a keen interest in global health, sustainable development, health systems strengthening and capacity building.

We are currently unable to accept applications from biomedical engineers. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Placements can be any duration, however the length of placement may affect the costs incurred by the Professional Volunteer and any financial support we are able to provide. Most of our 'part-funded' and 'fully-funded' opportunities require a minimum commitment of 3 months and 6 months respectively. Find out more about the support we provide

All Professional Volunteers will be asked to complete a pre-placement health and wellbeing questionnaire to enable us to provide additional support where necessary. We may also ask for evidence of qualifications, professional memberships/registrations, a recent CRB check and a valid driving licence (if required).

As an ethical organisation, we actively encourage applications from professionals of any gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age or disability.
