Hand hygene is an important health issue in Uganda where many illness are transmitted because of unwashed hands.K4C has helped four Liverpool Hope Business School students spend a month in Fort Portal (Uganda) with Social Work and Business students from the University of Salford and Mountains of the Moon University. The aim of the trip was to help develop “Clenz”, which is a hand cleaning gel that will be produced and sold locally.
The four Business School students (Holly Wade, Abdurahman Yahye Nur, Magdalena Idzikowskg and Pauline Eckersley) are writing a business, marketing and operational plan for Clenz, which will form an important element in making the project sustainable. While at Fort Portal they met with all the main stakeholders, formulated a cost plan and worked with Ugandan students from Mountains of the Moon University to formulate a marketing strategy.
